Data Protection Information of the ECMA – European Chamber Music Academy – pursuant to Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation

  1. General points

1.1 General information on data processing

The European Chamber Music Academy (hereinafter: ECMA) attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. The purpose of this Data Protection Declaration is to inform you about our data processing procedures, particularly about the type, scope and purpose of data collection when you visit or use our website and when you contact us via a form or e-mail.

The ECMA processes your personal data exclusively within the framework of the applicable data protection regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG) and the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG).

Please note that by clicking on hyperlinks, you may be redirected to the website of another provider and the data controller (i.e., the party responsible for the data processing) may change as a result.

Furthermore, children’s personal data are processed by us only with the consent of their legal representative (i.e., parent or guardian). In principle, we use or disclose children’s personal data only to the extent that is legally required and permitted, or in order to obtain the legally required parental consent, or to protect children.

1.2 Contact

If you contact us by e-mail, telephone, in writing or via an online form on our website, the personal data that you provide is stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We erase the data arising in this context once its storage is no longer necessary, unless we are legally obliged to store it for a longer period.

The data are processed internally by staff and only forwarded internally or to third parties if that is necessary for the purpose of executing a contract, or if there is a legitimate interest to do so, or if you, as a user of the website and/or a customer, or as a member of the ECMA, have given your prior consent to the data processing.

The processing is carried out either on the basis of a contract initiation or contract performance pursuant to Art 6 (1)(b) GDPR, or of a consent pursuant to Art 6 (1)(a) GDPR, or on the basis of legitimate interests of the data controllers as stipulated in Art 6 (1)(f) GDPR.

We erase the personal data arising in connection with your contact with us once it is no longer necessary to store it, unless there is a legal obligation or an authorisation to carry out further processing. If the processing of your personal data is based exclusively on consent, then your data will no longer be processed and will be erased after your revocation of that consent.

If you have at the same time requested to receive a newsletter, we refer you to the applicable data protection provisions.

1.3 Automatic data collection / Cookies / Integration of external offers and content (third-party providers)

General information on date security

We use suitable and adequate technical and organisational security measures to process and store your data securely: our security measures are thereby based on the latest technology. This includes, inter alia, the use of recognised encryption procedures (TLS).

Automatic data acquisition

For technical reasons, among other data, the following usage data collected by a user’s internet browser is stored:

  • browser type and version;
  • operating system used;
  • the website visited by the user;
  • date and time of access;
  • Internet protocol (IP) address of the user’s computer: IP addresses are only stored in pseudonymised form.

These data are stored separately from any user data that may have been disclosed (particularly name, address, e-mail address, language) and analysed for statistical purposes, in order to be able to optimise the online presence and the offerings on the website (see also the point “Analysis cookies” in this Data Protection Declaration).

Integration of external offers and contents (third-party providers)

We integrate external offers and content from third-party providers (hereinafter referred to as “plugins”) into our websites. The use of such a plugin is exclusively based on your consent pursuant to Section 96 (3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG 2003). The purpose of installing such a plugin is to offer our users a wider range of content and services. We ourselves do not collect any personal data via the plugins. When you access our websites, no user data is transmitted to the respective external service provider yet. Only after you have given your consent by actively clicking on the button “Allow once” or “Allow permanently” can personal data (e.g. the IP address) of the user be transmitted to the respective third-party provider. This occurs regardless of whether you have a user account, e.g. with a social network. If you are a member of a social network and are logged in to your user account when activating a plugin on one of our websites, the data collected by a plugin may be linked to your user account. If you do not wish such a link to be established, you must log out of your social media account before activating the plugin. We have no influence on the extent to which, or the purpose for which, the social networks actually collect personal data via the plugins. For further information on the processing and use of your data by the respective social network, please refer to the privacy policy of the respective service provider.
