Profile & Special Focus
The Quatuor Akilone is a human and musical adventure that started in 2011 in Paris. The four musicians assert an authentic approach to their repertoire that is historically informed and carried out with a resolutely spiritual vision. The name of the quartet - the Italian word for ‘kite’, is a metaphor for the connection between ground and sky.
Remaining engaged with the world around them outside of the concert hall, the Quartet performs frequently in outreach concerts for prisoners, refugees and disabled or impoverished communities. This important mission is aided through regular activities with the organizations Concerts de Poche and Musethica. The Akilone Quartet is particularly sensitive to the environmental and ecological issues that affect our society.
